The iPhone 13 is the greatest iPhone for consumers on a budget because of its brighter display, longer battery life, and powerful cameras. We wish it had quicker charging and the adaptive 120Hz display of the iPhone 13 Pro, but compared to the iPhone 14, you're not really losing anything.
Pros
- Brighter display
- Great cameras
- Compelling Cinematic video mode
- Class-leading performance
- Very good battery life
Cons
- Lacks 120Hz display
- Slower charging than rivals
- Cinematic mode capped at 1080p
The new iPhone 14 features a speedier processor, better cameras, and Action mode video. Check out our review of the iPhone 14, but the iPhone 13 is still a terrific deal, especially at this discounted pricing.
The iPhone 13 is the greatest iPhone for anyone on a tight budget, especially now that the iPhone 14 has out and it is $100 less expensive. The iPhone 13 is still a fantastic flagship phone with its upgraded hardware and software, bigger display, and larger battery. Yes, even with the next iPhone 15.
The iPhone 13 is far more powerful than its Android rivals owing to Apple's 5G-ready A15 Bionic CPU. New Photographic Style filters are among the camera upgrades, and the Cinematic mode focus-racking feature will thrill videographers.
The iPhone 13 is not perfect. In comparison to certain Android phones, the charging is still somewhat sluggish. The fact that a 120Hz display and telephoto zoom are only available on the iPhone 13 Pro variants further irks me. However, based on my in-depth assessment of the iPhone 13, this latest model is still among the greatest cell phones available.
While the more recent iPhone 14 has a somewhat quicker CPU, even better low-light photography, and new capabilities like Action mode video, the iPhone 13 is still a superb smartphone with an excellent software experience. Continue reading to learn why.

Review on the iPhone 13's style and palette
- Smaller notch makes display a bit more immersive
- Slightly different button placement
- Pink and blue are standout colors
- New Green color launched March 2022
For the iPhone 13, there are only basically two noticeable design changes. First, instead of being positioned vertically, the back cameras are now oriented diagonally.
For the iPhone 13, there are only basically two noticeable design changes. First, instead of being positioned vertically, the back cameras are now oriented diagonally.
Second, and perhaps more significantly, the notch is now 20% smaller while maintaining the excellent TrueDepth camera system and Face ID you've come to anticipate since the iPhone X introduced these features four years ago.
In all honesty, the iPhone 13's lower notch doesn't significantly alter how it is used on a daily basis. Neither notch bothered me while I watched films side by side in landscape mode at full-screen.
When using apps with a white backdrop in portrait mode, like Gmail, I did enjoy the small notch more. The iPhone 13's notch, though, swoops down somewhat.
Test of the iPhone 13: Display
easier to view in direct sunlight with a brighter display
fantastic contrast and colours
Unfortunately, the iPhone 13 lacks the iPhone 13 Pro's adaptive 120Hz refresh rate, but it still has a fantastic OLED display. This Super Retina XDR display is 800 nits brighter than the iPhone 12 and 28% brighter than the iPhone 12 from last year.
